I am so excited to be in Block II. The semesters keep flying by and soon we will be in our last block where we will be student teaching 40 hrs/week. It will honestly be here before we know it and I feel like each block is going to teach us new content that is going to be so beneficial to us. I have had the opportunity to substitute teach classes that were titled "Life Skills" and "Cross-Catergorial" and it was an experience and yet I had not much knowledge on how to approach students with learning disabilities. This semester I definitely want to learn more about students in these classes and how to help them learn like other students. I anticipate that this semester will be as great as last semester!

I am very excited about participating in class this semester. I think this is a great opportunity to learn about how all types of kids learn. To be an effective teacher, we have to be able to understand the why behind the ways that children think and make accomidations and adjustments to our plans to make sure we are reaching out to all children. While tutoring, I have been put in situations where I am dealing with children who have some type of disability that affects the way that they learn and it seems like you're talking in cirlces. I think this class will help me understand how to handle situations like this and make me become a more effective educator.

I'm looking forward to participating in Block II this semester. I think that it will be a challenging course that pushes me to think outside of the box and it will help me become more creative when creating my lesson plans. I have previously worked at SELF school in Valparaiso and through that experience, I realize that there is such a wide range of disabilities in students. I hope that this class will help me become a more effective teacher so that I can help each and every student exceed their learning expectations.

I am happy to be in Block 2! Woo hoo! =) I believe I will learn a lot this semester, and I'm looking forward to that very much. I know that we all say we want to reach all types of students. But I for sure know that where I stand right now- I sure don't know how to go about doing that. So I can't wait to find out how I can do so. I am also excited about learning about the different needs and disabilities, so I can detect them when I become a teacher and address those issues.

I'm excited this block is more student-based and the I'm interested to learn about ed. psych!

Hello Everyone! It was exciting for me, as well as a little nerve-racking, to walk in to our class on Tuesday. Most of you, if not all, spent the last semester together in Block and know each other quite well. I am not a full-time student; I left my Block I last winter to catch up with non-block courses. Currently, my previous Block friends are in Block IV. However, I was relieved to see that we seem to have great dynamics. I believe that we will make an awesome group throughout the next two and a half years!
I am looking forward to Block II material. When growing up, my schools separated children with disabilities (special schools); therefore, as a child, I have never had the opportunity to study (or play)side-by-side with such children. Teaching in “normal” setting could be quite challenging, and I can imagine that having special need students poses even a bigger challenge. I am glad that we will have the opportunity to learn how to instruct special need students, include them in all possible activities, and perhaps learn to relate to their parents. I imagine that it will require an extra amount of time to incorporate their lesson plans into the general curriculum.
I also wonder what Educational Psychology is about. I imagine that it will provide us with some incites to how children learn and help us to be an effective and reflective teachers.
What I am looking forward the most this semester, however, is spending time at school with the children! …oh, okay, and our snacks too ;o)

I also am excited to be back in school with some familiar faces as well as new ones. I have had similar classes to what these courses are about, but I know that I will learn much more from these classes as well as all of you! I think more than anything we will learn from eachother's experiences dealing with special needs students and any type of student for that matter. I think we will have a lot of fun learning together...I am excited to get it started! Now I just need the other book to arrive and I'll be set to go! Oh and thanks again for the different versions of Happy Birthday!

I am very excited about starting Block II! I look forward to learning more about helping to motivate children and providing an inclusive classroom. I do have a personality that tries to help others feel welcome, loved, and included so hopefully this course will help me develop this personality.
I, like Agnus, went to a school where the special needs students were separated from the "normal" students. This always made me feel very strange. I can only asume this was because I never really had an opportunity to get to know those students better. I am glad my children won't have to feel like that. I believe that children want to learn and when we they are included in one classroom they can learn from each other.
I believe this is going to be a great semester. :)

I am very happy to be in Block II. It is the next step in our journey to becoming great teachers! I am so glad to be with, for the most part, familiar faces, and I am glad to meet everyone that I did not previously know. I know that I will learn a lot from this class - both about myself as a teacher and about children. I really enjoyed Proffessor Pratt's class last semester, and I know this one will be just as great, if not even better. So, let's have a great semester!

I am very pumped to be starting Block II. Time goes by so fast and I remember not even being into the Blocks and before we know it we will all be graduating from PNC and jumping into the world of teaching. I am very anxious to learn more about students with special needs and how to connect with them when they are in your classroom. I love that some faces are familiar while others I have never seen before, this semester is going to be fun and I am anxious to see what type of techniques I learn throughout this course!

Hello everyone! I am super excited to get the semester rolling, and it's off to a great start! I loved block one, and if block two is as fun and educational as the first then I look forward to it VERY MUUCH! This semester I want to focus more on the students and learn how to teach them more efficiently. I want to be the best teacher, and in becoming one I know that I am going to have to be able to meet the learing needs of students that varry in many ways. I have had experience dealing with children with ADD, ADHD, and differenet types of behavioral issues, but my experiences were limited and I know I need to be better prepared. That is why I hope I take away a lot from this class1 I look forward to getting to know everyone, and lets rock it out Block Two!!!

I am so excited to be in block II. I took block I about a year and a half ago and as many of you already know the reading portion of that praxis had held me back! Ahh! It was so frustrating, but the time flew by. Before we know it we are going to be student teaching and getting ready to graduate. I think this is going to be an awesome semester and I am so excited to learn so many new things. I am anxious to learn about how children learn, students special needs, and how you can adjust your lessons to meet the needs of all students. These are all important factors in becoming an effective teacher! It is so nice to see all the familiar faces and the couple new ones : )

As many of you know I waited till December 23 to take my Praxis. DO NOT RECOMMEND! I finally received my results January 12 @ 3 p.m. So as I stated in class I am really excited to be in Block II. To be able to continue with the Westville group from last semester, those I know and love from other classes, and getting to know the rest of you. The journey for the next 2 1/2 years will be exciting I know I will learn a lot from you and with you.

Prof. Pratt I loved the way in class Tuesday you used examples of practices we need to have as a teacher and how we need to explain when the music plays what it means. I think seeing you put those examples into practice helps me remember and apply it easier when I am a teacher. I also like the motto of "Every Moment Counts" because I am one of those people that tries to get the most of my time.

I enjoy the layout of the Education program how Block I gets you in the school and you wonder how I'm I going to learn all this and be equipped to help these children love learning and be their most effective teacher. Then the following Blocks fill in the blanks.

With continual research and new laws the role of the teacher has signifacantly changed. After, looking over the syllabus there is so much we will be learning in guiding us to working with students, with and without disabilities, and understanding them and how we can be their window to a world of great opportunities. I am excited to be here!

I am very excited to be in Block II. I was in Block I a year ago and now to be back into the program is great! I know it is going to be so fast from here on out. I am excited to see what we will be learning because I feel these are two topics I do not know very much about. It will be interesting to learn about students with speical needs. I can't wait to really get going on everything!!
